Dolphin found dead in Ganga Canal
The carcass of a four-and-half-year-old dolphin was found in the Ganga Canal near Narora dam in Bulandshahr district, officials said. The mammal was found dead yesterday, they said.
It is the third case of Dolphin death in last one and half years. The four-feet-long dolphin died about a week back after it was hit on its head by a heavy object, the post-mortem report said. Dolphins are found in Ramsar site, a 165-km-long stretch of Ganga from Bijnore district to Bulandshahr district via Garhmukteshwar.
It is a protected site for the mammals. In 2005, 123 dolphins were living in Ramsar site but now only 46 are left.
