Don’t celebrate my B’day: Jaya
Chennai: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Monday appealed to party workers to desist from celebrating her birthday on February 24 and said they should rather use the opportunity to take a vow to defeat DMK in the state assembly polls, due in May.
"I generally don't like to celebrate my birthday. But if my party workers still insist on celebrating it, they should rather do that by organising blood-donation and mass-feeding," she said in a statement.
She said DMK rule had taken the state backwards as it was suffering from various issues including power cut, price rise and illegal sand mining, among others.
"The party workers should vow to reinstate the good rule of MGR (party founder and her mentor M. G. Ramachandran) and they should take a vow in this regard on my birthday and work towards this," Jayalalithaa, who turns 63 on Thursday, said.
It would indeed be celebration time if the people gave their verdict in the party's favour at the hustings, she said.
