Don’t suppress staff: Babu
Hyderabad: AP Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association president Ashok Babu on Monday warned that a “civil revolution” would take place if the Centre went ahead with its decision to bifurcate AP.
Addressing a press conference here in the state capital, Babu warned that the anti-bifurcation stir would intensify if police tried to suppress employees. Earlier in the day, the ministers from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions faced the ire of the hundreds of agitating secretariat employees.
They kept on raising slogans against the ministers and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for her decision to divide the state. In a novel protest, the employees were blind folded with ribbons tied around their hands. They stressed that the capital city Hyderabad belonged to all the three regions and none can evict people from here.
A group of ministers, however, had long discussions with representatives of the Centre at deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha’s chambers. Ministers Anam Ramanarayan Reddy, P. Satyanarayana, N. Raghuveera Reddy, N. Uttamkumar Reddy and Kondru Murali besides chief secretary Dr P.K. Mohanty took part in the deliberations.
The employees did not allow the ministers to step out of H block for sometime. As Minister Ramanarayana Reddy rose to speak, the protesting employees left the place shouting slogans that they didn’t believe in “useless” talks. They blocked the convoy of ministers for a few minutes before dispersing.
