Dravid exits, with grace and style
All through his 16-year cricketing career, Rahul Dravid has been associated with solidity and has been the go-to man for the team in the face of adversity.
Known to mask his emotions even under trying circumstances, Indian cricket’s Mr Dependable briefly flirted with his feelings before quickly regaining composure as he exited the game in a most befitting manner on Friday.
Having embellished the sport with his style and substance, Rahul Dravid, 39, opted to walk away with dignity as a clamour for the axing of seniors gained ascendancy following the disastrous overseas tours of England and Australia.
“I felt it was the right time for me to move on. I had a glorious run, a wonderful run. I felt it was time to move on for the next generation of young Indian cricketers to come on and play and take the team forward,” said Dravid on Friday.
