Durga gets a chargesheet after Centre writes to UP
The Akhilesh Yadav government on Sunday night served a chargesheet to suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, accusing her of not following rules in ordering the demolition of a wall of a Greater Noida mosque.
Ms Nagpal was given 15 days to reply. The chargesheet, sources said, was on a report by Meerut commissioner Manjit Singh.
The state government sent a copy of the chargesheet, which claims she lacked administrative skills, to the department of personnel and training, making it clear it was in no mood to revoke her suspension.
Earlier Sunday, the Centre sent yet another letter to the UP government seeking a report on Ms Nagpal’s suspension, a day after Congress president Sonia Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure she was not “unfairly treated”. It is claimed that she was suspended for cracking down on the sand mafia involved in rampant quarrying along the Yamuna’s banks in Greater Noida.
