Dutch woman killed in Mahabs
A woman from the Netherlands was found murdered in a house where she was staying with her partner in Mahabalipuram, on Thursday.
The police suspects that her partner, from the same country, had a hand in the death of the woman.
The woman, identified as Johanna Cornelia Lamberta, 36, arrived with her male friend Remco Elisabeth Martin Joseph on March 10 at Chennai airport and headed straight to Mahabalipuram.
“The two took a house for rent in Mahabalipuram and stayed there since,” said a senior police officer. This was their fifth trip to India.
On Friday morning, Martin told the police that he found Johanna dead when he woke up on Thursday morning. He said on Wednesday night, some unidentified people who barged into the house, attacked him.
He fell unconscious and found his female friend dead the next day morning when he woke up. He claimed that on Thursday he had left the body in the house and went to Chennai to contact the Holland embassy.
He returned at night and slept in the same house with the body on one side. The woman was visibly strangled to death.
“We could not see any marks of serious assault on his body expect some nail marks. There are many holes in his version that make him the main suspect,” Dr C. Sylendra Babu, inspector general of police, north zone, told DC.
