EC strictness stops noise and bustle
The tough measures of the Election Commission appear to have taken away the usual din and bustle associated with elections.
Ask any in Lucknow or Barabanki about how the election mood is there in their area, the pat comes reply that there is no mood as such this time.
One does not come across banners fluttering the streets or billboards and hoardings of candidates in this part of Uttar Pradesh, with people stating that the strict norms of the EC has ensured that there is no nuisance in any form. So, no surprise that the vehicles of political parties blaring out the slogans are hard to find in this area also known as the Awadh region of the state.
Also missing out from the sight are the party offices where the political parties used to carry out their work to network with voters. “Only rallies are happening, which give the feeling of elections. But it’s good also that the people can carry out their normal business without being hindered by political workers making beeline to our workplace,” said Vinod Yadav on the outskirts of Lucknow.
