EC transfers 5 DMs, 7 SSPs and a DIG in U.P.

In major development, the Election Commission on Wednesday ordered the transfers of five district magistrates, one DIG and seven senior superintendents of police.

According to the state chief electoral officer Umesh Sinha, the district magistrates of Hardoi, Chandauli, Pratapgarh, Lalitpur and Ghaziabad have been shifted while the DIG of Basti has also been transferred. The SSPs of Bahraich, Santi Kabir Nagar, Jaunpur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Unnao, Etah and Mradabad have been shifted.
The official said that some of the transferred officials are those who have less than three months left for retirement. The new postings are likely to be made later on Wednesday night.
