Ed serves notice to ramdev, aides
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served notices to yoga guru Baba Ramdev and two trusts associated with him following the alleged detection of certain unexplained transactions from Dubai. The yoga guru and trusts have been asked to explain the overseas transactions under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (Fema).
Sources in the agency said the agency officials are also scrutinising the alleged foreign transactions carried out Jharkhand Mega Food Park private Limited. The company is allegedly associated with yoga guru, sources added.
“Balkrishna, a close associate of Ramdev, was reportedly appointed as additional director in the Jharkhand-based company on March 17, 2009. Recent financial transaction of the company is under the scanner of the ED,” sources said. If required Baba Ramdev and his associates might be called for the questioning also, sources added.
The ED is probing overseas investments and transactions carried out by organisations allegedly associated with Ramdev. The agency recently booked yoga guru and his Hardwar-based trusts in a case of alleged violations of foreign exchange rules.
