Election Commission asks Prez to take action against Salman Khurshid

Election Commission on Saturday asked President of India to take immediate and decisive action against Law Minister Salman Khurshid for his alleged defiance of model code of conduct, said EC sources.

The poll panel in a letter to President Pratibha Patil said the delicate balance of functions between constitutional authorities has come under strain because of Khurshid's ‘improper’ action.

“We have found Khurshid's tone and tenor dismissive and utterly contemptuous about the EC’s lawful direction to him,” EC wrote in the letter.

Khurshid's action is damaging level playing field in the elections in UP, said the letter.
