Ex-Bjp minister remark angers party leaders
Infighting further intensified in the Rajasthan BJP after a group of party workers staged a dharna at the party office in Jaipur demanding action against former minister Nand Lal Meena for his alleged remarks against senior leaders.
“We seek action against Mr Meena,” said Gopal Gehlot, member of the party’s state executive, while leading the protest at the party office.
“It is unacceptable if anyone tarnishes the image of dedicated leaders like Gulab Chand Kataria and Ghanshyam Tiwari,” said Mr Gehlot. “Our dharna is indefinite,” he added.
The RSS-backed leaders opposed any attempt to project former chief minister Vasundhara Raje as chief ministerial candidate while the leaders loyal to Ms Raje insisted that the party declare her as the undisputed leader of the party.
A Raje camp loyal, Mr Meena said only Ms Vasundhara Raje was able to ensure the party’s victory.

MAYA’S BIRTHDAY IN U.P. STRIKES A SUBDUED NOTE
age correspondent
Lucknow, Jan. 15
There was no extravaganza, no major celebrations and no singing and dancing. Ms Mayawati’s 57th birthday was celebrated in a subdued manner in UP with small worker rallies in every district, addressed by party leaders who celebrated the day as Jal Kalyankari Diwas.
Party leaders distributed blankets to the homeless, fruits to patients and sweets to orphaned and disabled children. Party leaders reminded the party cadres of the work done by Ms Mayawati in her rule and how her welfare schemes, designed for all sections of society, had been terminated by the Samajwadi rule.
