Ex-BSP minister held in labour scam

Former UP minister Badshah Singh was arrested on Wednesday by the special investigation bureau of co-operative cell of state in connection with the multi-crore scam in Labour and Construction Co-operative Federation (LACCFED) during the previous Mayawati government. The SIB had called Badshah Singh to appear for questioning after which he was arrested.
Mr Singh, who was among the powerful ministers in the Mayawati government but had later joined the BJP after being denied ticket for the Assembly polls by the BSP. He lost the Assembly elections.
According to sources, the name of Mr Singh and some other BSP ministers have come to light on the basis of interrogation of the officials of LACCFED, a construction agency. Sources said an executive engineer of LACCFED, Dinesh Kumar Sahu, also accused in the scam, had alleged that Mr Singh was given `5 crores as cut money in advance from the department’s account in return for getting a contract of construction of Labour Adda (shelter for labourers) across the state in 2010.

Two arrested in kerala for taking pictures

Two men from Kerala, who took pictures sitting on the business class seats of Air India Dreamliner and de-boarded the aircraft bound to New Delhi, were taken into custody and interrogated by security agencies at the city airport.
The two from Ernakulam, identified as Ameer Thwaha, 34 of Perumbavur, and Mansoor, 19, of Madavore, had taken their tickets, each costing `36,000 from the airport counter on Wednesday morning and boarded the flight. The police found out that Ameer was a member of the National Development Front, an aggressive Muslim outfit, which had been banned.
Ten minutes before the scheduled take-off, the two requested that they, carrying only hand luggage, would like to de-board the plane. This was allowed by the airline crew.
