Ex-CJI sons barred from estate sale
A division bench comprising Justices Vikramjit Sen and Justice Mukta Gupta of the Delhi high court on Friday directed Chetan and Nitin Sbharwal — the sons of former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Y.K. Sabharwal — and their associate, who are in real estate business, to refrain from selling or transferring a `117-crore residential property at 7, Sikandra road in the heart of the national capital.
The division bench also directed Chetan and Nitin Sbharwal to maintain a status quo on the property which they obtained on judicial order after the highest actual bidder, Tri-veni Infrastructure, failed to pay the amount to the original owner of the property. The court adjourned the matter for further hearing in the case till October 22.
The Prime Commercial Pvt. Ltd. has moved the division bench of the Delhi high court after a single judge bench has ordered to take over the property to the the former CJI’s sons — Chetan and Nitin Sabharwal — and their partner Kabul Chawla.
