Ex-J’khand minister in custody
A member of the former Madhu Koda ministry, Bhanu Pratap Sahi, on Saturday surrendered before a special CBI court in connection with `20-crore medicine scam.
The court of N.N. Singh sent him to 14 days’ judicial custody. Sahi’s surrender came in the background of court’s order to the CBI to attach his property if he did not surrender by Monday.
A note to this effect was pasted on his premises, officials said. The CBI had raided his premises and his property for about 20 times. Sahi, who was health minister in the Koda government, is the fifth former minister to be sent in judicial custody in connection with alleged irregularities of funds. Koda and his former ministers Kamlesh Singh, Enos Ekka and Harinarain Rai are already in judicial custody on corruption charges. The CBI had lodged a case accusing Sahi and the then health secretary Pradeep Kumar of irregularities in the use of funds received under National Rural Heath Mission. —PTI
