Fake cops loot `15cr gold at store
Fifteen bandits wearing police uniforms looted in excess of `15 crores worth of gold jewellery from an elite watch and jewellery store in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Evidently professionals, the criminals broke into the store after disarming two guards and first of all very methodically dismantling the close circuit television system.
Chandigarh SSP Naunihal Singh said the culprits were also wearing face masks when they entered the shop ensuring that no one, including the security guards could identify them.
Sources said the each of the bandits even wore gloves leaving no fingerprints behind for the forensic team that was later requisitioned by the police.
Tanishq franchisee Anil Gupta told the police that the loot was in excess of `15 crores in value.
“The robbers took away almost every piece in the showroom. We are still calculating the loss.”
The past four weeks have witnessed crime in Chandigarh shoot right off the charts with innumerable instances of murder, rape, abduction and burglary.
