Fasting Telugu Desam Party MLA Dhulipalla Narendra shifted to Guntur government general hospital
Guntur, (AP): Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA from Ponnur Dhulipalla Narendra who has been fasting for the last four days, was forcibly shifted to Guntur's Government General Hospital, 20 km away from here, in morning after his health deteriorated, the police said.
It may be recalled that Narendra has been on a protest fast in Ponnur, his native town, demanding a roll back of the Congress Working Committee decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and carve out a separate Telangana state.
Earlier, a doctor who had examined Narendra found his pulse to be weak and his blood pressure to be very high. Angry MLAs resisted and a large number of his supporters obstructed a huge police force which overcame their resistence and quickly shifted him to Guntur in an ambulance.
Scores of TDP supporters accompanied his ambulance on two wheelers. Unfortunately, a two-wheeler was knocked down by a truck near Chebrole and both the rider as well as pillion rider died on the spot.
Meanwhile, the indefinite fast by three TDP leaders in Guntur city entered the third day. TDP supporters from Seemandhra poured into city to express their solidarity with the three fasting leaders.
Addressing them, TDP MLC Nannapaneni Raj Kumari said that bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh is bad for the youth who would lose employment opportunities. Meanwhile, YSR Congress honorary president Y Vijayamma's fast also entered the third day.
