Father arrested for baby’s death
The Rajasthan police has arrested Bahadur Singh, father of a five-month-old baby girl who died here at a government hospital on Wednesday, for causing grievous injuries to his daughter and Section 302 of the IPC for murder has been slapped against him, SP Bikaner Rakesh Saxena said.
According to the police, the incident occurred on January 24 at Siyana village under Bikaner district when Bahadur returned home under influence of alcohol. He first beaten up his wife and subsequently bitten off parts of little Radha’s lips, nose and cheek in a fit of rage, leaving her face damaged.
He also caused injury on his three-year-old daughter. However, the villagers intervened and Radha and her mother were taken to the government hospital in Bikaner. The victim girl then taken to Jaipur for further treatment and plastic surgery.
The hospital authorities said that the baby girl was recovering fast, but on Wednesday morning her condition deteriorated after she was breasted by her mother on Tuesday night. The milk entered into her lungs following which some complications developed and she was put on ventilator support but she died.
“Since the mother could not take precautions, the milk entered into the lungs and it developed a complication,” said spokesperson the SMS hospital. The doctors immediately put her on ventilator, but she died after two three hours.
Radha has been taken for last rites at her father’s Siyana village under Bikaner.
