Father, son burnt alive, CPM calls 12-hour bandh
Two CPI(M) workers — a man and his son — were burnt to death and three others injured at Kapasdanga village under the Beldanga police station area in Murshidabad on Monday night.
The CPI(M) has called a 12 hour Murshidabad bandh in protest against the twin murders.
The victims were identified as Mahabul Sheikh and his son Natabar alias Masarul Sheikh. The CPI(M) claiming that the victims were their party supporters, alleged that the Congress goons had killed them.
“Additional police superintendent of Murshidabad Dip Narayan Goswami, however, said: “A group raided Mahabul Sheikh’s house in Beldanga on Monday night and hacked him to death. Mahabul’s son Natabar alias Masarul Sheikh was locked inside a room and burnt alive. Two other members of the family sustained minor injuries and have been admitted to a hospital.”
According to him, Mahabul was wanted in several cases in Beldanga and the attack could be a revenge. He, however, claimed that his 17-year-old son was innocent and had just returned from Mumbai.
