FB friends help woman claim rights from in-laws
Dimple Misra, a young woman from Mumbai who has been abandoned by her husband, is now being helped by her Facebook friends to claim her position in her husband’s home.
On Friday night, Dimp-le, along with her 18-mon-th old daughter Aanchal, led her own baraat to the in-laws home in Moolapur village in Bhadohi district. She was joined by her Facebook friends and a host of NGOs that had come to express their solidarity with her after reading her posts on Facebook.
“I was all alone when I decided to come to Bhadohi and claim the rights of my daughter but I was pleasantly surprised to find that my Facebook friends, representatives from the media and some NGOs were there to receive me when I came out of the Varanasi airport. They drove down with me to Bhadohi and accompanied me to my in-laws house which was locked because all members had fled before my arrival,” she told local reporters on Saturday.
Dimple’s uncle-in-law was present in the neighbouring house but he claimed that he had no relations with his brother and their family. Dimple Misra belongs to Varanasi but has lived in Mumbai since her birth.
