FB post: 10 Sainiks arrested

A day after being arrested for posting comments on Facebook against the shutdown in Mumbai after Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray’s death, Shaheen Dhada said she had made the comments causally, without intending to hurt anyone.

Shaheen’s friend Renu Srinivasan, who was also arrested for “liking” her comments on Facebook, said that after seeing her family undergo this gruelling experience she would never log on to any social networking site. The police on Tuesday also arrested 10 suspected Shiv Sainiks for vandalising a hospital owned by Shaheen’s uncle.
Shaheen said she was not scared, but was apologising so that peace and harmony was not disturbed. “I had casually put the comments on Facebook. I did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments. But now I will think twice before putting any updates on such sites,” she said from her Palghar residence.
She said she should not have been arrested for this and was saddened to hear that her uncle’s hospital had been vandalised.
