FCI official arrested for taking bribe of Rs 50,000
A Food Corporation of India official has been arrested here by the CBI while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor to clear his bills.
Mithilesh Mishra, Manager (House Keeping), FCI, Raipur was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000O, official sources said.
Based on a complaint lodged by a Raipur-based transport contractor, a case had been registered against Mr Mishra under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
"It was alleged in the complaint that the accused demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for settling his pending bills pertaining to paddy and railhead handling," CBI said in a statement.
It said the agency laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe.
