Ferrari owner arrested, released
Alappuzha: Muhammad Nisham, owner of the controversial Ferrari F 430 Scuderia was arrested and bailed out on Monday. He was arrested by the Peramangalam police of Thrissur for egging on his nine-year-old son Ishan to drive the vehicle, thereby encouraging underage driving and endangering the child's life and that of others. The incident took place on April 6 in Sobha city near Puzhakkal in Thrissur.
The brazen act was part of the child's ninth birthday celebrations. A visibly proud father videographed his son's skills and uploaded it on YouTube little expecting the tempest in store for him.
Peramangalam Circle Inspector P.C. Bijukumar said Nisham was at the Peramangalalam police station by 2 pm. He presented the Ferrari before the police.
“The Chandigarh-registered car was also taken into custody. Nisham was later bailed out on the surety of two individuals and the Ferrari was also given back on condition that it had to be produced before the magistrate court whenever it was called for. The chargesheet would be submitted before the Kunnamkulam judicial first class magistrate court within a week“, the CI said.
The joy ride came to light following a Deccan Chronicle report on April 15 citing the YouTube video showing the small lad driving the Ferrari which grabbed the attention of netizens the world over.
Following the report, the case was taken up by City Police Commissioner P. Prakash who ordered an inquiry into the incident.
