Fisherman drowns in Rengali dam

The body of a fisherman was fished out from Rengali reservoir after his fishing boat sank, the police said here on Wednesday.

The boat of Rabiratna Singh of Sapadagar village drowned in Rengali-Chateitanagar catchment area of the reservoir while fishing due to heavy gale and downpour on Monday evening, they said quoting a delayed report.

Singh's two other brothers who were fishing in the dam in another boat managed to return to the bank and waited for Rabi's return. When he failed to do so, the brothers reported the matter to the police.

During search, the body of Rabiratna was spotted in the dam on Tuesday and was fished out. Rabi failed to return as his boat apparently capsized due to heavy wind and downpour, the police said.

The body was handed over to family members on Wednesday after postmortem.
