Fiza detained for stoning neighbour
The police detained Fiza Mohammad aka Anuradha Bali, the estranged second wife of former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, following complaints that she had verbally abused and pelted stones at a neighbour.
Initiating action on a complaint by Mr Ram Krishan, Fiza’s neighbour in Mohali town, the police arrested her late on Saturday night following which she was booked for quarrelling and causing public disturbance. After a night in the lockup she was produced before the local sub-divisional magistrate who released her on bail on Sunday afternoon.

IAF copter makes forced landing in AP
Hyderabad, Oct. 17: An IAF helicopter carrying seven senior officers landed under emergency conditions this morning at an agricultural field in Mahabubnagar district due to inclement weather, the police said.
“The helicopter took off from Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru and was proceeding towards Hyderabad, but made a forced emergency landing at a field due to poor weather condition,” a senior police officer told PTI over the phone. All seven senior officials of the IAF on board were safe. The Met Department had on Saturday issued a warning of heavy rains. —PTI

Maha to frame rules for gun licences soon
Mumbai, Oct. 17: The Maharashtra government has informed the Bombay high court that it would frame new rules within six weeks for issuing gun licences to ensure that only those residing in the state availed this facility.
The government’s assurance came in response to a petition alleging misuse of gun licence rules to accommodate persons hailing from other states such as former Bihar minister Jamshed Ashraf.
The government told the court on Thursday that the new rules would enumerate the documents to be submitted. —PTI
