Flames from the ground creates panic in Rajasthan's Karauli district
Panic gripped Nadauti area in Rajasthan's Karauli district after some six meters high flames leapt from the ground accompanied by a minor blast, officials said today.
After the incident in a farm at Kunjela village, some lava sort of black liquid and gas emanated from the ground which continued till late last night.
Worried over the blaze people informed the police following which the area was evacuated.
"We evacuated the people from the spot. A 11-kv power line is passing from over the area where the incident took place," Gulab Singh, SHO Nadauti said.
A team from Geological Survey of India (GSI) has been dispatched from Jaipur to carry out an inspection at the spot.
"The team will submit its report by evening and exact reasons can be ascertained only after the report. Usually, high-tension lines causes such happenings.
Many a times, broken wire generate heat and incompetent rock material in the ground converts into lava," sources at the GSI office said.
