Food inflation in double digits
Food inflation is once again in double digits, having touched 12.13 per cent for the week ending December 11. It is not just the rise in onion prices that has pushed up food inflation; increases in prices across a number of food products of daily use have also contributed. As compared to last year, wholesale prices of onions were up 33 per cent, prices of vegetables were up 15 per cent, fruits 20 per cent, egg, meat and fish 19 per cent and milk 18 per cent.
