Former Kerala minister Sujanapal passes away
Senior Congress leader and former Kerala minister A. Sujanapal passed away at a private hospital here today after a prolonged illness, family sources said.
He was 62 and is survived by wife and two children.
Sujanapal, who was suffering from cancer, had been keeping indifferent health for some time. The end came at 8 a.m. today. His relatives were at the hospital when he breathed his last, they said.
He had represented Kozhikode-one assembly constituency twice in 1991 and 2001. He served as forest and environment minister for some time in the previous Oommen Chandy-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government in 2001.
Sujanapal had also served as Kozhikode District Congress Committee President and was General Secretary of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee in 1992. He was an AICC member and had written a number of books.
Born in 1942, Sujanapal completed his graduation from Guruvayoorappan College, Kozhikode and obtained his law degree from Calicut Law College.
The funeral will be held tomorrow.
A large number of congress workers, including local leaders paid their homage to the departed leader at the hospital.
