Bhopal: ’96 order might be challenged
New Delhi : Government is likely to file a curative petition in the Supreme Court in the next few days seeking to set aside the 1996 apex court judgement watering down the criminal charges against Bhopal Gas tragedy accused.
Sources in the law ministry said Attorney General G.E. Vahanvati has been asked to personally draft the petition and file it by the end of this month.
The 1996 judgement had diluted criminal charges against the accused by applying Section 304(A) of the IPC (causing death by negligence) instead of the more stringent Section 304 (2) — culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

DGCA for checks on Dhruv copters
Age Correspondent
New Delhi
The DGCA has proposed certain checks on the civil variants of the Dhruv helicopters manufactured by the Bengaluru-based Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. before these aircraft are operated. The DGCA has observed from an earlier incident where a Dhruv chopper force-landed that “loss of power and collective control was observed during the flight” and that the “preliminary examination revealed that the connecting rod assembly—-collective eye end was found broken”.
The DGCA stated that “since an unsafe condition has been identified that is likely to exist ... on other aircraft of the same type design,” an air worthiness directive was being issued.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
