Hyderabad: PCC president and state transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana is contemplating to resign from the Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Cabinet.
Satyanarayana, who met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Friday evening, reportedly conveyed his decision to quit the Cabinet.
According to sources close to the PCC chief, Satyanarayana did not like the way Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was handling the Seemandhra stir against the bifurcation. However, Mr Satyanarayana was not available for comment.
Sources said he will wait till Saturday evening to know the fate of Seemandhra MPs resignation after their meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and then will submit his resignation letter.
Satyanarayana is said to be in touch with Seemandhra MPs with whom he had already hinted about his quit move. It is reliably learnt that four more ministers in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Cabinet will follow the suit.
Earlier, Satyanarayana, minister Vara Prasad and Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao meet Governor Narasimhan and discussed the political situation.
5 Congress MPs to quit party today
The stage is set for the ruling Congress MPs from Seemandhra region  who are against bifurcation of state to tender their resignations on Saturday to Lok Sabha Speaker Ms Meira Kumar and pressurise her to accept their resignations.
The Lok Sabha Speaker had expressed her inability to meet the seven Congress MPs on September 24 due to previous commitments and has fixed an appointment for Saturday noon.
The MPs believe that  their resignations will stall the Centre’s move to go ahead with state bifurcation.
Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, Rajahmundry MP Undavalli Arun kumar, Anantapur MP Anantha Venkatarami Reddy, Rajampet MP A. Sai Pratap and Nandyala MP S.P.Y. Reddy are going to quit the party.
While Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar are reportedly backing out from resigning.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress MP from Nellore Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy too has taken an appointment with Speaker for Saturday. It is likely he will also press for his resignation to be accepted.
As per the rules and conventions, if Lok Sabha Speaker is convinced with the member’s reasons for quitting, she may accept the resignations.
