Freak mishap kills lady on karva chauth

In a freak incident, a women was killed by a stray bullet in Bhantida on the eve of Karva Chauth, when the victim was sitting on a hotel rooftop with other women.

Hit by the bullet, the victim Santosh Kumari (45), fell on the ground with blood oozing form her head. Her friends rushed her to hospital where she was declared brought dead.

During probe, police found the bullet was hit from a .315 bore rifle. They found a riffle of the same make was purchased by one Shanganpreet on the day of the incident from a local gun house.

On questioning, Shanganpreet told police that after buying the rifle he straightaway went home. In the evening, he went to the terrace and fired in the air to test his rifle.

According to police, the bullet deflected and hit the women. “The women was not the target as the bullet was dying on its trajectory when it hit her,” police said.
