Dec. 2: It’s the big fat wedding in the BJP. Party president Nitin Gadkari preaches austerity but the extravaganza he has organised to celebrate the wedding of his only son Nikhil in Nagpur, headquarters of the RSS, to Rutuja, 22, daughter of a bank official is the epitome of excess.

The marriage, solemnised on Thursday was attended by some 2,000 members of the family. The mega event will go on for four days. All the top hotels in Nagpur have been booked.

Apart from the Prime Minister and political leaders, guests include the Ambani brothers, Ratan Tata, Vijay Mallya, Kumar Mangalam Birla and film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna.
