Gadkari says NDA will form next Govt. at Centre
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari, who celebrated his 55th birthday in the presence of his supporters and party workers here on Sunday, wished that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form the government at the Centre after the next Lok Sabha polls.
"Whenever elections will be held, whether in 2014 or before, the BJP-led NDA will form the government in Delhi. This is my wish and I will work for it," said an elated Gadkari.
Party workers shouted slogans wishing long life to the leader and even a cut an enormous cake to celebrate his birthday.
Gadkari on his part thanked his supporters for their love and wishes, and wished to work for the upliftment of the poor.
"I have not been elected the national president yet, the election for that will be held in December. It is my birthday today. I pray to god to give me strength to work for the poor people," he said.
Gadkari, who was born on May 27, 1957, also served as the Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) of the Government of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999. He has also served as the president of the Maharashtra BJP.
