Gadkari yet to pick state in-charges
For BJP chief Mr Nitin Gadkari, selection of state-incharge is proving to be tough task. More than three months after Mr Gadkari announced his team, filling the post of party’s state in-charge still remain an incomplete task.
Sources said Mr Gadkari had held series of meeting with senior party leaders to discuss the matter. But the issue remains unresolved as most of the leaders want themselves to be appointed in-charge of any of the BJP ruled state, sources disclosed. A section within the party, which is upset over these posts remaining vacant, blame the party chief for the issue.
“More than six months have passed since he took over as party chief. It took him three months to announce his team and now one knows how much more time he will take to announce the state in-charges. As a party chief, he is expected to make swift but tactful decisions. You can’t please everyone,” said a senior party functionary. So far, Mr Gadkari had appointed national general secretary Mr Ananth Kumar as Bihar in-charge. But a section within the party is angry over Mr Kumar’s selection as Bihar in-charge specially after he was missing from recent crucial meetings when the party was desperately trying to continue its alliance with JD(U) in the state.
It could be mentioned here that Mr Gadkari had reportedly promised party general secretaries of appointing them as in-charge of BJP ruled states, if they manage to gather large crowd during party’s anti-price rise rally.
