GANDHI SPECS:CID MAY CARRY OUT NARCO-TEST
Almost three months after Mahatma Gandhi’s spectacles were stolen from the Sewagram Ashram in Wardha, there is still no trace of the stolen article, or the thief. The state CID, which has been investigating the case since mid-June, is likely to carry out narco-analysis test on some suspects in the case.
On June 13, just two days before the 75th anniversary of the Mahatma’s first visit to the Ashram, his spectacles were found missing from the set of articles preserved in the institution. The state government had ordered a CID probe in the case on June 15. Deputy superintendent of police G.B. Yadav was appointed to investigate the case. “The CID has been focusing on finding out if someone from the Ashram itself had a hand in the crime, as there was only a remote possibility of any outsider stealing any of the articles,” said an officer.
According to the investigations so far, the spectacles had gone missing since November 2010. However, the Sewagram Ashram Prathishthan Trust lodged a formal complaint only after the media found out about the missing article.

Mumbai: main runway shut for third day
K.A. DODHIYA
Mumbai, Sept. 4
Flights remained affected for the third consecutive day after the main runway of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport remained out of bounds for arrivals and departures on Sunday, due to recovery work of the Turkish Airline flight that got stuck in mud near the taxiway.
According to sources at the airport, all efforts to tow away the stranded aircraft pro-ved futile as the ground on which the aircraft was stuck is still mucky due to incessant rains. Following the skidding of the Turkish Airline aircraft on Friday, the main runway had become unusable. As a result of this, flights had to be diverted to the secondary runway, which was handling both domestic and international flights. “The process of recovery of the Turkish Airlines aircraft is in progress. Mumbai International Airport Limited (Mial) has deployed all resources and completed construction of a pavement to remove the aircraft from the site.
