Gang rape case: Cops fired
The Maharashtra Government has suspended two police officers in connection with the dacoity and gang rape case at Temghirevasti, Veergaon in Akole tehsil of Ahmednagar district.
"Station officer Saleem Shaikh and police inspector Prakash Patil are being suspended for dereliction of duty," Home Minister R.R. Patil said here today.
The Akole police have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the dacoity and gang rape case which took place on Saturday night.
In the incident, two women were gang-raped and four elderly were stripped naked by the dacoits, before they fled with cash and gold.
