A 10-year-old girl died at a hospital in Bihar’s eastern town of Katihar late on Thursday night, five days after she was gangraped by three men. Hours after her death, a six-year-old girl was admitted at a nearby hospital in the town in a critical condition following an alleged rape.
In Saran district, a 60-year-old dalit woman was allegedly raped and killed by an unknown man on Wednesday, said police. All the accused in these three cases are currently absconding and raids are being conducted for their arrest, said officials.
The 10-year-old girl, daughter of a poor labourer, died at Katihar Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and a murder clause was added to the FIR against the three named accused. Medical examination had confirmed that the girl, a resident of Bajraha village under Dhamdaha police station of Purnia district, was gangraped. The three men raped her on April 27 in a maize field under at Bareta village under Falka police station of Katihar and then tried to strangle her after. They left believing she was dead, said officials. All the accused are absconding. The police said the six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 35-year-old man when she was playing outside her house.
