GIM 2012: DV Sadananda Gowda flashes Rs 7.6 L cr smile
On the concluding day of GIM-2012 — 730 investment proposals signed; Total investment of Rs 7.68 lakh crore; On the spot registration of interest (ROI) for a proposed investment of Rs 1.68 lakh crore in the infrastructure sector alone.
No wonder Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s megawatt smile is blinding!
Lauding the industry bigwigs for choosing Karnataka as their investment destination, an exultant Chief Minister said this was 'the happiest day' of his life as he had never tasted success to such an extent before. “This is beyond my imagination. This is more than double what we had shored up during the last GIM that took place in 2010,” he said.
Alert to the issues raised by the industry bigwigs like Jindal Aluminum CMD, S.R. Jindal, Bharath Forge CMD, Baba Kalyani and Bhoruka power corporation chairman, S.N. Agarwal, Mr Gowda said he would convene a meeting in a fortnight to address the problems they had raised.
“I agree that everything is not perfect in this world, but we constantly need to work to rectify them,” he said.
Mr Gowda said they would sign the 700-odd MoUs with companies on their proposals after the State High Level Clearance Committee clears their detailed project proposals.
At the closing address at the GIM-2012 here, marred by strong criticism from industrialists over red-tapism, Mr Gowda assured industry captains that his government would live up to the expectations of the industry in bringing transparency.
“My utmost priority is to see to it that all those projects that have been signed here are realised. Any one can call me on my mobile phone if their project is getting delayed unnecessarily.”
