Girl critical in Bhopal hostel attack
A working women’s hostel even in the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited township in Bhopal is not safe for the inmates and this was starkly exposed during the intervening night of September 7 and 8 when an intruder broke the window grill, entered a room and violently attacked a girl, who was seriously injured and had to be admitted in ICU.
According to the police, the culprit broke the window grill and entered room no. 5 of Triveni Working Women’s Hostel, managed by BHEL Bhopal. As Archana Singh, the girl occupying the room, woke up and raised alarm, the culprit attacked her with a stick and fled before the other inmates and the security guard reached there.
Till Sunday evening, the culprit could not be identified and had not be arrested.
Bhopal mayor Krishna Gaur rushed to Triveni hostel and inspected the room where the incident took place.
She also talked to the inmates who said that even earlier there have been incidents involving intruders. The inmates voiced their anger saying there has been no action on their previous complaint.
