Girl students molested by teacher

Around 200 people staged a protest at the government upper primary school in Vemulapalli in Narsim-hulupet mandal on Saturday after learning that one P. Surender, a contract teaching volunteer, had molested minor girls during and after school hours.

Sources said that Surender reportedly used to invite girls of Classes V and VI to his house at Vemulapalli after school hours and touch them inappropriately.

The incident came to light when a Class VI girl told her parents on Friday. After verifying facts, the victim’s parents came to the school on Saturday with 200 others and confronted Surender.

Eyewit-nesses said the parents thrashed Surender, but he fled before they could hand him over to the police. Narsimhulupet SI A. Vinay Kumar said a criminal case would be registered against Surender and he would be nabbed soon.
