Girls’ deaths baffle cops
The bodies of two teenaged girls were found on the railway tracks near Intekanne station in Kesamudram mandal on Wednesday.
The bodies were spotted by railway gangmen and have been identified as that of J. Vanitha, 18, and B. Anusha, 18, both cousins and residents of Madipalli village in Nekkonda mandal.
The bodies were found 20 feet from each other with severe head injuries at Intekanne, four kilometers from their native village Madipalli.
The police suspect that the girls died at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday.
Sources said that the cousins, who are first year Intermediate BiPC students at the Gitanji college in Hanamkonda and neighbours, were last seen when they both left their homes on Monday to collect the school memo in Nekkonda.
When they did not return home Monday night, sources said B.Kantamma, the mother of B. Anusha, contacted her deceased daughter’s exfiancée G. Ramesh and learnt that both had left in a bus after seeing a movie in Thorur mandal.
However, clues and other material recovered from the site of death are baffling the police, who are yet to decide whether it is a joint suicide or double murder.
Police sources said they had recovered two Jangaon to Warangal train tickets and two first show movie tickets of Amrutha Theatre. Both tickets were purchased on Tuesday.
The mystery deepened with government railway police (GRP) claiming that they did not get any report about suicides from railway drivers operating on the Intekanne–Kesamudram train route.
“We are looking at the case from all angles. We are expecting more leads from forensic experts after they study the evidence,” said A. Rama Devi, the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Mahbubabad.
