Girls outshine boys in boards

The girls outshone boys once again in Classes 10 and 12 boards exams conducted by Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The result of Central Board of Secondary Education for Class 12 for Ajmer, Panchkula and Chennai was also announced on Wednesday.

The pass rate of students in Class 12 was 97.11 per cent which is up by 0.03 per cent from last year and the pass percentage is 98.31 in Class 10, up by 0.26 per cent from last year.
According to the board, there were 55,760 candidates in Class 12, while 1,12,820 students took the test in Class 10 ICSE exam held in March. The pass percentage of girls in Class 10 was 98.77 per cent against 97.95 of boys. Similarly, the pass rate of girls in Class 12 is 98.26 per cent while for boys it is 96.17 per cent.
The toppers for Class 10 and 12 are also girls this year. While the topper for Class 10 scored 98.80 per cent aggregate marks, the highest marks in Class 12 have been secured by two girls with an aggregate of 98.7 per cent. The western region recorded better results this year with 99.62 per cent students clearing the exam in Class 10 followed by students of southern region securing a pass rate of 99.44 per cent.
In Class 12, the southern region recorded the best results with 98.72 per cent students getting through the test followed by eastern region where 97.69 per cent students went past the post.
In Delhi and NCR too, girls did better in both the exams. While 98.29 per cent girls cleared the Class 10 exam, 98.25 per cent boys crossed the hurdle. In Class 12, the pass percentage of girls is 98.25 per cent which is substantially better the boys’ 95.61 per cent.
The pass rate of SC category students in Class 10 stands at 96.44 per cent while the pass percentage of ST students is 97.45 er cent. The pass rate of SC and ST students in Class 12 are 95.52 and 92.76 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, the CBSE on Wednesday declared the Class 12 results for Ajmer, Panchkula and Chennai regions. While 80.8 per cent students passed the examination in Panchkula, 95 per cent students cleared the exam in the Ajmer region. The highest percentage in the Chennai region is 92.78 per cent. The results for the Delhi region would be announced on May 22. The results would be available on the board’s website after 8 am. The CBSE has made special arrangements for quick access of results.
Schools can get the results of all the students by registering their specific code number and email address on the website.
