Girls outshine boys in CBSE Class 12 exams, yet again
Not only in the country, girls outperformed boys in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 examinations held at foreign centres as well.
The CBSE class 12 exams were conducted at 45 foreign centres, besides 34 centres in Gulf countries. According to the results released on Monday, a total of 96.85 per cent girl students cleared the exams from foreign centres, compared to 91.55 per cent boys.
In the Gulf centres, 96.80 per cent girls passed the exams, compared to 91.32 per cent boys. On the whole, pass per centage in foreign centres is 94.27 per cent, against 92.56 percent in 2010. In the Gulf countries, the pass percentage is 94.20 per cent, against 93.40 per cent in 2010. A total of 9,068 students appeared from the Gulf centres in Dubai, Doha, Qatar and Kuwait.
From the other foreign centres, 8,532 students appeared this year. In the seven regions in India whose results were declared on Monday, pass percentage of girls was 86.93 per cent, compared to 77.83 per cent for boys, a CBSE spokesperson said. The overall pass percentage registered an increase of 1.84 percent over 2010 and stood at 81.71 per cent.
