Gogoi: Not involved in Hills scam
Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday ruled out his involvement into `1,000-crore North Cachar Autonomous Hills Council but admitted that there have been corruption in the council.
Addressing a press conference to clarify the charges of the Comptroller and Auditor General report, Mr Gogoi told reporters that he has directed the chief secretary to probe the issue of excess fund being released to the council which has been pointed out by the CAG in its inspection report of the special audit on transactions in NCHAC. Mr Gogoi, claiming to be innocent, said, “We will order a CBI probe into the misappropriation of the government fund.”
Former CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, meanwhile, accused Mr Gogoi of trying to divert the attention from the scam.
