Gogoi won’t quit, says will probe leak
Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi here on Tuesday outright rejected the demand of Opposition political parties to resign owning the moral responsibility for `-1000-crore scam in North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council

Bogged down by attacks of Opposition political parties and NGOs since the special audit report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on N.C. Hills was published by this newspaper for the first time on November 22, Mr Gogoi announced that he was going to order a high level investigation to find out as to how the confidential special audit report of the CAG was leaked. Mr Gogoi in an interview to local news channel also threatened to file a defamation suit against former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary and noted RTI activist Akhil Gogoi for implicating his name into the N.C. Hills scam and seeking his resignation. Meanwhile, the CAG report, indicting the Assam government for misappropriating `411 crore in 26 months and releasing excess fund to the council has surcharged the political atmosphere of the state.
The BJP secretary and Guwahati MP Bijoya Chakrborty has demanded the dismissal of the Gogoi government while announcing that party has decided to rake up this issue in Parliament.
Besides political parties, the noted RTI activist Akhil Gogoi went a step further and claimed that chief minister Tarun Gogoi is involved in to the multi-crore rupees NCHAC scam. He also demanded resignation of Mr Gogoi and his ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Gautam Roy for their involvement in to the scam.
The chief minister is fully aware of the involvement of his ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gautam Roy and Kharsingh Ingty in the scam.
