Goof-up in most wanted list shameful: Farooq Abdullah
Union minister Farooq Abdullah on Friday said the "goof-up" in India's most wanted list handed over to Pakistan has been a shameful incident and sought a probe to find out who was behind the mistake.
"A proper inquiry should be held to ascertain who is responsible for the mistake and at what level the goof-up took place," the national conference chief said at a press conference here.
The agencies and state governments which have prepared the list should be held responsible for the discrepancies, he said.
He, however, said, "This will not affect our fight against terrorism and we will continue to effectively face the challenge."
Abdullah said terrorists in Kashmir have suffered a setback and peace was returning to the Valley.
India has the capability and strength to undertake a surgical strike like the US did in Abbottabad, but it will not do so as it wants to focus on development, he said.
Meanwhile, J&K unit of Shiv Sena demanded that the Union home ministry should fix the responsibility for the error in the list of fugitives and punish the guilty.
"The home ministry must fix the responsibility of the senior officials of CBI and other organisations responsible for bringing shame to the country," Sena state chief Ashok Gupta said.
