Governor's offer on floor test unprecedented: Congress
Bangalore: Congress leader Siddaramaiah today attacked Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj, terming his offer to the BJP government to prove majority again in the House as 'unprecedented' and 'unconstitutional'.
"In free India, such a thing (the Governor giving second opportunity to seek vote of confidence) has never happened.
Under constitution, there can't be such an opportunity. It's unprecedented," Siddaramaiah, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, said.
Siddaramaiah said he does not know for what reason the Governor made the offer, adding, Bhardwaj might be under pressure (to do so).
He said the BJP government had failed to prove its majority during Monday's floor test and in the normal course President's rule should have followed, which was recommended to by the Governor.
