Govindacharya: Advani has lost his credibility
Former BJP leader and Hindutva ideologue K.N. Govindacharya is of the view that BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani has “lost credibility” among people and therefore, he should not speak on issues like black money and corruption. Mr Govindacharya, who has joined hands with Baba Ramdev for his campaign against black money and
corruption, also attacked his former party BJP for not taking up the issues more effectively and seriously. He said the principle opposition party has lost its legitimacy to attack ruling UPA government on the corruption issue, when it is protecting its own government in Karnataka which is facing corruption charges.
“The way Advani apologised to Congress chief over party’s task force’s report on black money issue, he lost clearly lost the credibility and authority to raise the issue. He was amongst the first ones who had raised the black money issue and then he tendered an apology letter over his own party’s report. What was his compulsion,” asked the former BJP leader who had quit the party in 2003 over differences with senior leaders. It could be mentioned that a majority section with BJP was unhappy when Mr Advani had written letter apologising to the Congress chief over BJP’s task force report on black money.
Mr Govindacharya said instead of passing resolutions against corruption, BJP should take action against its own leaders who are involved in corruption cases. Without naming B.S. Yeddyurappa’s government in Karnataka, Mr Govindacharya said “just to save their only government in south, the party including its tallest leader, have been overlooked the corruption cases against its government in the state.”
