Govt must give names: Gadkari
Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the CPI on Tuesday demanded that the government should disclose the identities of those Indians who have stashed black money in Swiss banks.
Bharatiya Janata Party chief Nitin Gadkari questioned government’s “reluctance” to reveal the identity and said it will raise doubts about the integrity of people at the helm.
BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani, who was in Gujarat, hoped that the Supreme Court hearing a petition in this regard will take appropriate steps and force the government to bring the money back.
Claiming that around `21 lakh thousand crores had been deposited in Swiss banks, Mr Gadkari said instead of trying to suppress the facts, the government should publicise the names, particularly after the WikiLeaks report on the matter. He claimed that he had the Swiss bank account numbers of people who were involved in the ill-gotten money trail.
