Govt sets Seventh Pay Commission

New Delhi: In a significant move ahead of the elections to five state Assemblies in November this year and the general elections next year, the Centre today announced the setting up of the Seventh Pay Commission for Central Government employees. The move promises major sops for government employees, but the benefits would come into effect only next year under a new government.The announcement of setting up the commission comes just days ahead of the likely announcement of the election dates to the five State assemblies by the Election Commission.
