Gowda takes a dig at BJP over scams
Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (secular) supremo Deve Gowda on Thursday called on the BJP to first set its own house in order by removing scam-tainted Karnataka chief minister Yeddyurappa, before pointing fingers at the Congress led UPA government at the Centre.
Talking to reporters in the national capital, Mr Gowda said, “It is a case of the cat calling the kettle back.”
Taking a dig at BJP patriarch L.K. Advani for having led a delegation to the President demanding the removal of Karnataka governor Hansraj Bharadwaj, Mr Gowda pointed to the view of Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde on the issue, whom Mr Advani held in high esteem. Mr Advani had intervened when Justice Santosh resigned over the Yeddyurappa government’s inaction in corruption cases. Justice Hegde had said that the governor was well within his right to sanction the prosecution of the chief minister in cases related to corruption.
Ridiculing Mr Advani, Mr Gowda said, “He is talking of bringing back all the ill-gotten wealth stashed abroad. He talks about corruption in the UPA government. But by demanding the removal of the governor, he is covering up the misdeeds of his own man. Yeddyurappa’s action has been described by Nitin Gadkari as immoral.”
